THE ADVANTAGES OF BLAST FREEZING

As South Africa’s leading cold storage operator, keeping your products cool and perfectly preserved is our no. 1 priority. And sometimes it requires a little bit more than a standard freezer room to do so. Luckily, our specialised blast freezing chambers are there to assist.


Freezer rooms are great for maintaining product temperature over a certain period of time. But freezer rooms take a whole lot longer when cooling products down to their required end temperature. As a result, this could lead to the product being compromised, affecting quality and the violation of food safety standards.

The overall temperature of a freezer room is also easily affected when warmer products are stored with the rest, causing an increase in energy resources to maintain the temperature as per the set parameters.


With blast freezing we can have your product frozen and the freshness sealed much quicker than any conventional freezing method. It minimises the risk of bacterial growth and results in food that is fresher and safer to eat.



Blast freezing is used to rapidly reduce product temperature by blasting high-velocity cold air into a smaller space for a specific period. This process can take anywhere between 12 to 72 hours, depending on the product start temperature and the required end temperature.


Once product has been blast frozen it’s moved into one of our freezer rooms where we proudly keep it cool and secure for longer term storage.
